Autumn Talk with Lorraine Clark from HapiHemp

OCTOBER is here, the month the clocks go back, Halloween turns up and it’s dark nights and dark mornings. Yet what is the business landscape like this moth – we talk to business owners every week about their stories. Today it’s the turn of Lorraine Clark, one of the founders of Hapihemp which offers CBD products to those who embrace complementary products and therapies to enhance their lives and wellbeing. Lorraine set it up with her friend Sam Day. They both live in Peterborough.

What’s coming up for your business in Q4?
Lots of sales and publicity hopefully. We’ve learned that raising our profile, being visible and educating people about the benefits of CBD is hugely valuable for us and for our brand so watch this space!

October represents several awareness months, are any relevant to you or your business?
Absolutely, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is hugely important for us. Sam had breast cancer herself and this was one of the reasons she first tried CBD. Prior to that she’d been suspicious of any such products. When she faced breast cancer she decided to educate herself and now she’s a huge advocate and seeks to educate everyone about the benefits of taking CBD to ease symptoms and promote well being.

We also have a couple of customers who have strong stories to tell around taking CBD themselves during or after cancer treatment.

October 10th was World Mental Health Day – how important is this subject in your business and in your life?
So many of our customers take CBD for mental health and to enhance their wellbeing. Some choose to take it rather than antidepressants. Our wellbeing is critical to how we perform professionally and how happy we are in our lives. For that reason every day should be a ‘mental health’ day.

What practical activities do you participate in at home or at work to protect your mental health?
I (Lorraine) took up paddle boarding fairly recently believe it or not and I absolutely love it. It gets me out in nature, it’s means I’m exercising in a way that doesn’t feel like exercising and I’m having fun. Out on the water, I can totally switch off and just ‘be’ in the moment, focusing on the task at hand. I’m actually not bad at it now!

Clocks go back this month – an extra hour in bed? How do you feel about the darker nights etc?
While many people love the thought of an extra hour in bed, others can find it hard and it can create a very low mood. I have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) so I have to watch what I do carefully. I try to sleep well and consistently, but not too much, I exercise (hence paddleboarding and walking) and I take CBD of course! I also watch my diet and nutrition.

Have you got any special offers you’d like to mention?
We currently have a special offer on our THC free CBD Oil which is 50 per cent off, now at £28.99 and it can be found here - https://hapihemp.co.uk/category/cbd-oil/

And finally, tell us one thing you love about the autumn/winter months?
I must admit I do like the cosy feel to it with candles and sparkling lights which light up a dark evening. I do love the fact we can move from Halloween to fireworks on Bonfire Night and then headlong into Christmas.
