Autumn talk with Stefan Thomas

We’ve hit the final quarter of 2022 and with so much happening for small businesses, we wanted to check in with them and see what’s happening in their world!

Today we’re talking to Stefan Thomas who is a keynote speaker and author of Business Networking for Dummies.

What’s coming up for your business/organisation in Q4?
I’ll be announcing the speakers for Connect Live - April 20th, 2023! It’s the day which will not only give you the tools you need to build your business, but the connections to do so too.

I also have a lot of speaking gigs coming up! I’m speaking for - Itseeze, Maryland Business Exchange, Oqema, Expo Northwest, Expo Scotland, The Red Dragon Business Show and Oxford Brookes University

This is a month for harvest and Halloween? Are either of these important for you in your business or organisation?
No, personally I grew up in Catholic Schools and we always celebrated Harvest Festival but also, I grew up in Catholic Schools, so Halloween and Bonfire Night were broadly ignored!

October represents several awareness months, please say if any are relevant to you or your business or organisation?
The following awareness days are important to me.

• World Vegetarian Day on Oct 1st was important for me because I’ve been veggie since 1984.
• World Mental Health Day on Oct 10th because I was sectioned in 2018 so my mental health these days is important to me, plus networking saves lives - having a good strong network can help business owners and others.

What practical activities do you participate in at home or at work to protect your mental health and that of your staff?
To protect my mental health you’ll find me exercising, taking time to chill, going for walks, listening to my mental health and not hesitating to take time out when I need to as well as organising my diary so that taking time out is possible and organising my business so that I can protect my mental health.

Clocks go back this month – an extra hour in bed? How do you feel about the darker nights etc?
I LOVE Autumn and Winter so I love the onset of this season and everything it represents.

And finally, tell us one thing you love about the autumn/winter months? 
I love the cold and long winter walks, plus the promise of better times to come in the winter always makes me smile too, the knowledge that the joy of Christmas and then the renewal of spring is just around the corner (I’m a bit of a hippy at heart.).
