Caroline Peyton of Peyton Principles shares her September plans

September is here! What will this month bring? We’re talking to small business owners to find out what’s coming up for them!

Today we’re talking to Caroline Peyton of Peyton Principles, a nutritionist, naturopath, and gut health expert helping those who suffer with unresolved digestive and gut symptoms to finally find relief. She also provides workshops to employers to help fuel a high-performance culture. Caroline is Swindon and Cotswolds based but also works online globally.

How was your summer as we go into autumn? Any highlights for you or your business?
In June I became a Director of the General Naturopathic Council, the regulator for Naturopathy in the UK. The GNC provides a register of highly trained and skilled practitioners so that the public can be reassured that they are finding the most highly qualified. I also hold the role of Accreditation Officer, as the GNC has responsibility for accrediting colleges to maintain and uphold high standards. It was an honour to be asked to join the Board.

What’s coming up for your business in September?
I am getting ready for my 5th Naturopathic Luxury Retreat Day in the Cotswolds with the focus on “supercharging your brain” on 16th October.  Too many people experience cognitive decline or at worse develop Dementia- the 7th leading cause of death worldwide. I want to show people how nutrition and lifestyle is strongly correlated with protecting the brain from cognitive decline. This is a beautiful supportive day of education, connection and nourishing food (chosen and cooked by myself) in a stunning setting. Book now at the Advanced Discount Price of £139!

It was also the Paralympics which ended on September 8. Did you watch, what do you think of this tournament? Were there any stand out moments for you?
At the time of writing the Paralympics haven’t happened yet and I am excited to see how Chris Hunt Skelley performs in judo. He won gold in Tokyo so I really hope he can repeat this in Paris! Chris lives locally and I was delighted when he was a guest on my podsee below).

World Gratitude Day takes place this month (Sept 21) – what are you grateful for in your business/organisation/at home?
I am grateful to be surrounded by supportive business owners and clients who put their trust in me to help them reach their health goals. It can be lonely as a “solopreneur” so making connections with other small businesses is wonderful and I’m always grateful when clients and business owners refer me to other clients.

There are many other ‘points of interest’ during September which could be relevant to you or your business. Here are five, pick any which are personally or professionally relevant to you?

*Sept 6 to 15 – Heritage Open Days 2024.
*Sept 18 – Read An Ebook Day.
*Secondhand September
*Sept 27 – World Tourism Day
*Organic Your September.

It is Organic September – a month long campaign to raise awareness of all things organic. Why organic? As a Naturopath, reducing the toxic burden on the body is essential for long-term health. Non-organic food can be heavily sprayed with chemicals. Studies show higher antioxidant levels in organic food (those compounds that protect our cells from damage). As a nation we are crippled by chronic disease and this is one way we can take positive action to support our health. Look at the information of “Clean Fifteen/Dirty Dozen” fruit and vegetables so that you can shop wisely. https://www.ewg.org/foodnews/clean-fifteen.php

And finally, September 30 is International Podcast Day – do you listen to podcasts or do you have one of your own? Can you share a tip? Which podcasts should others check out?
I started my own podcast in January Nutrition Life Stories to shine a spotlight on how food and nutrition has influenced people’s lives, either by significantly improving health and wellbeing or who understand how nutrition and food unites communities unites communities, You can hear all 16 episodes here: https://sites.libsyn.com/504968
