Chris Maslin shares why he is excited for 2023!

Chris Maslin is the founder of Go EO, a company that helps other companies become Employee Owned. This came about after he transferred his own accounting firm to an Employee Ownership Trust in mid-2021.

I’m always reading the news about employee-owned businesses and this year will be no different as I spend time helping companies with 5-25 employees make the same transition more easily and affordable!

The last few years have seen a hike in awareness of employee-owned businesses. The number of companies owned by their workers has doubled from 500 in 2019 to over 1,000 in 2022 (statistics provided by the Employee Ownership Association). It's a trend sure to continue.

Why? It's great for everyone. Staff gain more control, and tax efficient financial rewards from their efforts. Founders gain an ethical exit route, that looks after the business as well as suffering zero capital gains tax. The local and wider economy benefit as profits spread among more people, meaning higher disposable income for those most likely to spend.
