Fairford Book Fest - Tickets on Sale Now!
This is what happens when local businesses and local groups work together:
Fairford Festival; Fairford Cricket Club; DCO Systems; PBShop; Farmor’s School; Fairford C of E Primary School; local authors and BBC TV’s local reporter.
Fairford Festival is organising the Book Fest 2023, which will be taking place over two days on Friday 9th June and Saturday 10th June in the Literary Marquee in the grounds of Fairford Cricket Club.
Sponsored by Cirencester business, DCO Systems and supported by Fairford’s PBShop, the new look Book Fest will something for everyone:
Nine top authors, six of them local, will be enthralling their audience. Some will be providing workshops for children, others will be talking about their writing careers, answering your questions, as well as selling and signing their books.
Books will be on sale at discounted prices in the wonderful Book Shop facility – new for this year – provided by PBShop.
Children’s authors and illustrators, Jo Empson and Steve Antony, will be available on Friday afternoon with their books ‘Tiny Blue I Love You’ by Jo Empson and the ‘Mr Panda’ series by Steve Antony.
Throughout the day on Saturday, there will be seven well-known authors and Festival goers will be able to see them all for the price of an all-day ticket so you can pop in and out whenever you want.
- Emma Reeves – Adaptations of The Worst Witch / Hetty Feather / My Mum Tracy Beaker
- Sandra Howard – Former Vogue model, journalist and author of Love at War / A Matter of Loyalty
- Anne de Courcy – Biographer, journalist and author of Five Love Affairs and a Friendship
- Michael McCarthy – Local historian and has written about the real Dick Whittington
- Paul Martin – Antiques expert, writer & star of the Channel 5 series The Great Auction Showdown
- Jessica Fellowes – Downton Abbey expert, journalist and author of The Mitford Murders
- Dom Joly – Comedian and travel writer: The Downhill Hiking Club / Such Miserable Weather
Some of the authors will be chatting to the audience and encouraging interaction and questions, others will be bringing props along for the enjoyment of the booklovers and others will be interviewed. Emma Reeves will be interviewed by 15-year old Isla Beadnell – a Yr 10 Media student from Farmor’s School and Dom Joly will be talking and joking with Steve Knibbs, the Gloucestershire reporter for BBC Points West TV.
