Highworth Community Shed appoints new chair of trustees
Following a recent meeting of members, Highworth Community Shed has appointed Sue Dobbs as it’s new chair of trustees.
Sue commented: “I’m thrilled at my appointment as chair of such a wonderful forward-looking charity. This year we will see the official opening of the Shed space at the National Trust Coleshill, a wonderful inspirational site.”
“It’s taken a few years for volunteers and supporters to reach this point, raising funds, finding premises, it’s all due to their hard work, dedication and determination. The premises at Coleshill is currently being used for a project for the National Trust, a unique shelving solution for the Book Store, and work is all being done by our members.”
While affiliated to the UK Mens Shed, the Highworth Community Shed is different as its membership is open to everyone in Highworth and the surrounding community.
Sue said: “I’m delighted everyone will see the shed has women members. It’s important to me as it shows our commitment to inclusivity.”
“This year the Highworth Community Shed will be launching our Shed in the Community project, where we’ll be bringing affordable activities into the community of Highworth itself.”
The Highworth Community Shed’s aim is to have opportunities for members to pursue practical interests at leisure, practise skills and enjoy making and mending. Shed activities will be in a safe place where everyone can make social connections.
Membership is open now for anyone wishing to join. Anyone wanting to join can email: [email protected]
