Lauren Roberts, of Scott Media, has an exciting June happening!
It’s June already and we’re half way through the year – it’s also officially the first month of Summer, even if the weather has been a bit mixed!
Up today is Lauren Roberts a media consultant for Scott Media, based in Swindon. Scott Media offer PR services for businesses who don’t have a PR team in house and is run by journalist Fiona Scott, a journalist with over 35 years of experience in the industry.
JUNE is the first month of Summer. What will you be doing this summer in your business?
In April, we introduced Scott Media Speakers, a platform highlighting 50 diverse speakers for various events. June marks our first month with a full roster. We capped it at 50 to focus on learning and growing throughout the year. My focus this month is managing the platform and planning media posts to market our speakers across multiple channels.
What are your personal plans for Summer activities if you feel happy to share?
My husband races his superbike competitively across the UK, so this summer, my son and I will spend several weekends supporting him. We’re also excited to enjoy our newly renovated garden for Oliver’s first summer playing outside as he couldn’t walk this time last year.
June is often associated in nature with growth and abundance. What are your plans for growth in your business?
As I continue to learn alongside Fiona, I'm gaining valuable experience in PR and all things media! Simultaneously, Fiona is discovering the benefits of having me onboard in driving our business growth. Not only am I an extra pair of hands to assist in the storytelling for our clients, but as my experience advances, I can offer fresh perspectives on how we can innovate and expand.
Have you got any events planned for the coming months which you’d like to mention – where you and/or your business will take a leading role?
On June 26th we are hosting our final PR Planning and Brainstorming day of the year, where attendees have the rare opportunity to plan their media outreach for the remainder of 2024 with Fiona and National Journalist Liz Perkins. There are only 20 places available and 14 have already gone. For more details visit https://scottmedia.uk/product/pr-planning-and-pitching-day-june/
June 30 is Social Media Day. What does social media mean to you and your business? What are your favourite social media platforms?
Social media is like our modern-day town square. It's where we chat, share news, and connect with people worldwide. For our PR business and clients, it's how we spread the word about brands and build relationships.
As for favourite platforms, we encourage a mix tailored to each client's unique needs. I am fairly new to using LinkedIn and am learning that it is valuable for so much more than just an online CV! I have made so many new connections over the last few months through networking.
I personally love Instagram. It is essentially visual storytelling, bringing brands to life through captivating images and videos.
We now have a general election coming up in July? What would you like to see from that ‘event’ to support you personally or your business or both?
I view the general election as a chance for PR success. If we navigate it well and align our strategies carefully, it can really help both our clients and our business.
