March Talk with Neil Moore

It’s March! The first month of Spring, and the month when the clocks go forward. What’s going on in the world of business this month? Today we're talking to Neil Moore of Moore Photographics who operates from his studio near Cadley or comes along to your business or premises to take team pictures, headshots, product or other images to make the best of your business ensuring it stands out from the crowd.

How is March looking for you in your business?
Currently I can’t complain – most of my clients are busy which means I am busy too.

Are you taking part in any wider events or business collaborations this month?
As a member of BusinessWise, here in Swindon, I've made some fantastic relationships. This group has allowed me to meet Lewis of Sims Parker & Kidd.  He is a professional drone pilot and we are planning and embarking on a number of collaborations which will include high quality time-lapse movies which is a discipline I am able to provide.

This month it’s National No Smoking Day – is this important to you or your business?
National No Smoking Day would be closest to my heart. Having given up for over 30 years I would celebrate that and have found the financial cost and cost to my health was greatly improved.  I certainly do not miss it, even when I am with smokers.

Is it your birthday this month?
I have to wait until much later in the year to celebrate my birthday.  But as the best uncle in the world I will be able to help celebrate my nephew’s birthday this month.

Is it your business’s birthday this month or an anniversary of any kind?
Moore Photographics was born in May 2007 so will be celebrating 15 years this year.   I will keep you posted on celebratory give-aways during our 15th year.

Did you know that March 18 is Awkward Moments Day? Can you share any awkward moments with us in business or life?
When I was employing staff I had quite a few awkward moments brought about from the interaction of my staff with the client, neither funny nor rude, but non the less awkward. I think many business owners will resonate with that!

March is also Mother’s Day (March 27) - do you mark this day in any way in your business?
In my line of commercial photography, festive photography is by special request only and therefore does not bear on the general activity of the business.

Would you like to share your thoughts about your own mum?
I am very fortunate to still have my 82 year old mother (don’t pass that on), and make a point to visit at least once a fortnight.  In her eyes, I am still that silly little boy who gets up to mischief and needs to be put in my place every now and again.

In the yearly cycle of your business – what do you expect during March?
Over the last few years the regular cycle of workflow has been very much disrupted.  However, the spring months does tend see an increase in activity which sets the stage for the rest of the year.

Have you got any special offers that you’d like to mention?
You will need to wait for some very special, special offers starting in May and continuing throughout 2022 to celebrate my 15th year in the photographic business.
