November Talk with Duncan Price
IT’S NOVEMBER! – the year is coming to an end and Q4 is well under way. In the world of business it can be a time for sales for retail or product businesses or a time for planning and reviewing for service businesses.
Today we’re talking to Duncan Price of Mind Affinity, a hypnotherapy business specializing in overcoming anxiety and rediscovering confidence. The business is both online and based near Stratford upon Avon.
What’s your business highlight for November 2021?
The highlight for November has to be the process of taking on my first employee. I’m currently still accepting applications as part of the government’s Kickstart scheme to help and support young people getting into or back to work.
And what about a personal highlight this month?
A personal highlight for me, right now would be seeing my puppy develop, learn and grow. He’s five months old now and watching him figuring out what I’m asking of him and while he is also trying to train me is just amazing to see.
November represents Movember – Men’s Health Awareness Month. What, if anything does this mean to you?
I think it’s great that mental health as a whole has gained attention in recent years but I still think there is a long way to go.
When we speak about physical health, the most common things that come to mind are positive, proactive thoughts, such as exercise and healthy eating rather than physical ill health.
I am working toward the day when people have the same proactive thoughts about mental health rather than the current focus on mental ILL health.
I look forward to a time when those things absolutely get the support they need but first and foremost people are aware enough to look after their mental health before it becomes a problem.
November 13 was World Kindness Day – has anyone shown kindness to you in the last month or so?
I surround myself with good people and as such kindness is a thing that seems to be in abundance around me in a general sense. There is no specific act of kindness that stands out to me as I answer this question however I will take this as a reminder to look out for opportunities to show thanks for the kindness I receive.
It’s also Black Friday on November 26 which is now quite mainstream – do you participate in this within your business?
No-one loves a fence sitter but I see both sides of the debate on this.
Personally, Black Friday is of little interest to me and shopping isn’t something I’m ever likely to be excited by.
While I empathise with the ideals of those who fight against consumerism and the throw-away society we live in I don’t see how abstaining from purchasing on one day offers any real solution.
Have you got any events planned for November or December you’d like to shout about – either that you are running or attending?
