Paul Day, of Filestream Systems, is sharing his August plans with us!

August is upon us – it’s the month of holidays, summer fun and time off for many people. It’s also the time of the Olympics (from July 26) and the Paralympics (from August 28).

So how are small business owners coping with the month often known as ‘silly season’?

Today it’s the turn of Paul Day who is a Managing Director at Filestream Systems Ltd based in Wokingham. Filestream Systems Ltd is a secure document management software that enables you to access your documents securely from anywhere in the world and supports you in avoiding GDPR breaches.

How is August looking in your business? Does this month hold any special significance in your business? Anniversary, milestone, accreditation, new premises? New staff?
August is looking good for our business. There have been staff changes in the last couple of months including promotions for myself and my colleague, Layla, so we’re really starting to find our way as a team in this new dynamic.

What are your personal plans for this month – if you are happy to share?
I’m taking some time out and going to the Netherlands for my summer holiday. I’m looking forward to relaxing and switching off from work whilst I’m there.

It’s the Olympics or Paralympics this month – any thoughts, memories or relevance to you or your business or organisation this month?
I love the Olympics but I love the Paralympics even more and I can’t wait to support Chris Hunt Skelley when he defends his gold medal in the visually impaired Judo! 

August 13 is International Left Handers Day – if relevant – are you left-handed and what issues, if any, have you ever had around being left handed?
I’m not left handed but my partner and some of my business buddies that I know are.

August 20 is World Photo Day – can you share a photo as an attachment which means something to you this year so far?
It wasn’t too long ago that my team and I had new photos to represent the new promotions and team changes. The photo I’ve shared today has the members of the team in it and is a lot more up to date than our last team photo!

Can you name one business you’d like to give a summer shout out too? Who has gone the extra mile for you recently?
Rob and his team at The Pursuit Agency have created us a fantastic new website. It went live a while back but I’d love to shout out to them for all of the new pages they’ve created and the content that they’re pulling together for us on there. https://thepursuitagency.com/

Have you got any events planned for the autumn you’d like to shout about – either that you are running or attending?
In April I’m running the London Marathon in aid of Helen and Douglas House. I have to raise £2500 by April with £1500 of it being raised by January, so friends of mine, Hannah and Kevin, are holding a special coffee and networking morning over at Basepoint Business Centre in West Swindon on October 1st. There will be a raffle and a prize draw with networking opportunities for businesses and some drinks and nibbles too!
