Simon Read of Financial Careers Ltd is sharing his business and personal plans for July

It’s almost end of July and the school holidays have started! We’ve been speaking to businesses to find out what this month will bring for them.

Up today is Simon Read, managing director of Financial Careers Ltd. Simon is based in London and the Cotswolds.

What are your plans for July in your business?
We have been busy this July promoting some of our new added value services to clients. Through our team of expert partners, including but not limited to Psychometric testing, Tailored Assessment Centres, Coaching & Leadership Development, Specialist training, Onboarding, Salary Surveys and Benchmarking many other external HR Support services.

Not all our clients are hiring but are keen to develop and train their existing staff. As ever we have been working hard on getting roles filled for our clients as well.

What are your personal plans for this month?
Whilst the weather has been disappointing, I have been enjoying some golf both socially and through my association with Fore Business Networking. I have also been busy in the garden building a new greenhouse which will hopefully soon yield some great fruits and veg!

Do you like sport? Do any sporting tournaments or events stand out for you this month?
I have been enjoying the Ashes Cricket although it has been disappointing that the weather has helped Australia to retain the Ashes. The Tennis and The Open Golf have also been highly entertaining. Highlighting the brilliance and dedication needed to compete at the highest level.

On a much lighter note, July 17 was World Emoji Day. What do you think of emojis?
I do use emojis preferably a happy smiling face.

Can you name one business you’d like to give a summer shout out too?
I would like to give a big shout out to Cotswold Networking which has been a source of some great new professional contacts and following one of the meetings we have been able to place a Finance Manager for a client which was the result of a referral. Networking works! https://cotswoldnetworking.co.uk/

As a consumer have you visited a local business, bought their products or services and thought ‘I must recommend them’! If so here’s your chance – what business would you recommend this summer?
There are many businesses I would love to recommend however I would highly recommend Dave Nelson of Truffle & Thyme if you are looking for catering for a work event or private function the food is fantastic https://www.truffleandthyme.co.uk/

Have you got any events planned for the coming months which you’d like to mention – where you and/or your business will take a leading role?
We are soon to be opening an office in Swindon which will further cement our presence on the M4 Corridor servicing clients in the region.

Have you got any services or special offers you’d like to mention?
We are offering a 10% discount off our normal fees to all new clients.

Anything else you’d like to say?
We are increasingly working with the SME sector and filling more general Finance Roles such as Finance Managers, Administrators, Controllers, Payroll and Credit Control. We are particularly keen to be working with local business in the Swindon, Reading Bristol and M4 corridor. If you have a vacancy to get filled get in touch, we will be pleased to help.
