Let's Talk

Sophia Best of Heartfelt Moments

Sophia Best of Heartfelt Moments shares how busy her July is looking!

It’s July which is the second summer month and one which has a real sporty feel – including the Wimbledon, British Open Golf and the Tour de France! This month we’re talking to SME owners locally, regionally and nationally about the events happening within their business this month.

Up today is Sophia Best who is an Independent Celebrant and founder of Heartfelt Moments. She is based in Royal Wootton Bassett but travels to a number of different counties to deliver her services. Sophia offers a free consultation so that together you can discuss the creation of your perfect ceremony.

What are your plans for July in your business?
I am busy with a lot of different events this month and my absolute priority is to serve my clients and deliver exceptional services to honour and celebrate the lives of those loved ones who have been lost.

I desperately need to organise my workspace which is a little chaotic at the moment and make it a much nicer space to hang out in.

I’ll be doing more networking which is something I loveH having more conversations, learning more and making great connections.

I’ll be planning the month of August, to ensure I achieve better work-life balance and have time for my own self-care.

What are your personal plans for this month?
I plan to get back into my fitness training after time out to recover from an appendectomy in January. I’ve used it as an excuse for too long now so it’s time to take action. I also want to spend more quality time with my husband Paul, visiting beautiful places to walk with our golden labrador Elsa.

Do you like sport – and if so do any sporting tournaments or events stand out for you this month?
I’ve never particularly liked participating in sports, even from a young age at school. I dabbled with netball and hockey like most students but they weren’t really my thing and I took part because I had to.

My husband however is a very keen cyclist and July sees the start of the Tour de France, a prestigious annual bicycle race known for its gruelling stages and challenging terrain which takes place primarily in France. The race spans several weeks so I am sure to be watching a fair amount of the action.

On a much lighter note, July 17 was World Emoji Day and this often trends on social media. What do you think of emojis?
Emojis can be a fun and expressive way to add visual elements to text-based conversations and I do like to use them but not excessively! They help convey tone, emotion, or context that might otherwise be difficult to communicate through words alone. Emojis are playful and help bring joy, humour and personality to messages. If I was to create a new emoji it would be an animated figure jumping for joy with arms outstretched.

Can you name one business you’d like to give a summer shout out too?
I would like to give a shout out to Ali Anteney of Townsend Design & Print in Chippenham, a family run business since 1981. Ali is lovely to deal with, she completely demystifies the world of print and is very passionate about helping you get the best results for your business. Ali is very responsive and nothing is too much trouble. www.printingbytownsend.co.uk

Are you raising money for charity or volunteering this month in any way?
I am an avid supporter of many different charities and donate on a regular basis. and I often raise money by doing events mainly walking or cycling many miles to do so. I’ve completed Ride the Night a few times, a 62-mile cycle through the night around central London raising money for women’s cancer charities and have walked 62 miles along the South Downs to raise money for Oxfam. You’d think walking was easy but this is the hardest challenge I have ever undertaken.

I regularly support Dogs Trust and adopted Molly in 2010 and I foster a dog with them called Stitch.

However, a charity that’s very close to my heart is the Samaritans and I am proud to be a Samaritan listener, there for people when they need it most. Samaritans is a confidential service and you can call anytime 24/7 on 116 12

Have you got any services or special offers you’d like to mention?
I would like to offer 10% off my wedding services to any couple who book me as their Celebrant and quote Total Swindon when booking. Offer only valid until 31st August 2023.

Anything else you’d like to say?
I don’t believe we celebrate enough in this country and I would like to encourage you to celebrate more, even the smallest of wins.

“Life is for celebrating

All of it

Even its end”
