TJ Higgs is sharing what happiness means to her for International Happiness Day
International Day of Happiness is on March 20th and celebrated worldwide with people sharing what makes them happy. Today TJ Higgs is sharing what happiness means to her. TJ is a psychic and spiritual medium based in Hertfordshire who tours the UK with her live shows. She is also an author, radio host, teacher and more.
When you think about happiness, what does that mean to you? Do you think about being in a certain place, or with your favourite person, or maybe doing a hobby that you love? Everyone has a different definition of happiness, and that’s great, but occasionally, we need to stop and remind ourselves that even in the midst of a chaotic work life and navigating the many challenges of life, we deserve to be happy!
That’s a lot of what the International Day of Happiness on March 20th is about. It’s a day to reflect on what makes you happy, practice being consciously happy, and try to be mindful, grateful and kind.
What is the International Day of Happiness?
March 20th is the UN’s official “International Day of Happiness”. It is the day where the world makes a more committed effort to be kinder to each other.
The process for doing so is considered to be very simple. It’s all about being mindful, grateful, and kind to other people. You should be mindful of the world around you, grateful for the things in your life that you have, and kind to everybody, regardless of what they are going through or what they struggle with.
It’s a very simple message, but ultimately one that's very poignant at the moment. With the conflict in Ukraine and other smaller wars and battles constantly being fought across the world, it’s clear that not everybody is willing to be kind. That means that those of us who are trying to be kind have to do more occasionally to balance the cosmic scales, so to speak.
What Makes You Happy?
As part of the International Day of Happiness, it’s important to think about what makes you happy. What is it that brings joy to your life? What makes you happy?
It’s easy to say that being at home surrounded by loved ones makes you happy, but we recommend trying to think about what makes you happy at work as well. What do you like about your job? What is it that brings you joy?
Thinking about these things is a good way to practice mindfulness and gratitude, no matter where you are or what you’re doing. If we have to spend so many hours of the day at work, then it’s important to try and find what makes us happy during those hours. Maybe it’s a colleague that you’re working with; maybe it’s a flexible shift pattern that lets you spend time with your kids.
Whatever makes you happy should be celebrated because those are the things that help you get through the working week.
Final Thoughts
So, whatever it is that makes you happy, it’s the time to start celebrating it. Knowing what makes you happy is really important, and being able to navigate a world that is full of challenges is a lot easier when we hold the things that make us happy close. That’s really the joy of this day because it helps you refocus your thoughts and imagine What it is that brings you joy. That’s so important, as is being kind to other people.
