Trish Lynch has some exciting things coming up in 2023!

Trish Lynch has been a reporter and news anchor for over 20 years. She has worked for many of the news channels on television, reporting live and interviewing key decision makers. Trish also moderates conferences, roundtables and high level debates around the world and at the United Nations. In her world, Trish finds that no two days are the same and here she tells us what is coming up for her in 2023!

As a moderator, I’m lucky to work on some truly fascinating events. The biggest and certainly the most exciting job I have this year is called South Summit.

The event takes place in Madrid in June and is now in its 11th year. To sum up South Summit you need to think Dragons Den but on steroids and with billions (yes billions) of dollars up for grabs. To date, there are $250 billion of funds under management and all as a result of this event. 

Every year it attracts hundreds of young start-ups from all over the world hoping to secure funding for their invention, their idea - THE NEXT BIG THING! All inventions and ideas MUST benefit the planet, help the ecosystem and have sustainability and the environment firmly at their core. 

I moderate at the Investors Den where some of the biggest investors on the planet come to share their expertise and crucially, to spot the start-up that they are going to invest in, heavily.  I keep the room flowing, introduce the speakers, interview the investors, update the room on the latest industry news minute by minute and engage with several cameras for our virtual audiences who are joining in from several different time zones from around the world. It’s a high pressure job where the stakes are insanely high, I love it.!

Last year an impressive 20,000 people attended the event in person and thousands more participated virtually, making it the biggest attendance the event had ever seen. 20,000 people at one venue, especially after Covid was incredible and this year is set to break that record.

It’s also a chance to network with some of the most successful and influencial investors from around the globe, With thousands of attendees all in one place, the energy in the room is palpable. It’s incredibly exciting, who will walk away with nothing and who will change the world AND get a sizeable investment at the same time? The sense of excitement and possibility is contagious. I can’t wait!
