ON-THE-BUZZER MATCH REPORT: Swindon Wildcats 5-2 Hull Pirates
The Swindon Wildcats recorded a comfortable 5-2 win at home against the Hull Pirates on Saturday evening.
It was Hull who took the early lead though as the Pirates opened the scoring through Lee Bonner, who made it 1-0 to the Pirates with just 45 seconds on the clock.
Robin Kovar levelled the score at 17:11 with a tidy, unassisted goal. Kovar was clean through on goal and seemed to have the freedom of the Link Centre to round the Pirates' netminder before tapping home to make it 1-1.
Lee Richardson completed the turnaround in score in less fashionable, but no means less desired, style with a shot that slithered over the line at 36:13 to make it 2-1 to Swindon.
Richardson's goal was assisted by Jonas Hoog, who had a really impressive night in general, none more so than when Hoog himself extended the score to 3-1 in Swindon's favour in the closing stages of period two.
Hoog, with 16 seconds of the second period remaining, netted following impressive assist work from Jordan Kelsall and Toms Rutkis.
Ugnias Cizas got Hull back in the game at 46:25 but the Pirates could not mount the comeback needed.
In fact, it got worse for Hull at 46:25 when Kovar netted his second of the night, after Hoog's second assist, with a well-taken lazered strike into the back of the net for Swindon four, Hull two.
Swindon made the game safe with five seconds left, as Max Birbraer slammed in an empty-net goal. Neil Liddiard got the assist.
