ON-THE-WHISTLE MATCH REPORT: Swindon Town 1-0 Bradford

A sublime Anton Rodgers free-kick secured back-to-back home league wins for Swindon Town.

From around 30 yards, Anton Rodgers, son of Celtic boss Brendan, picked his spot and curled a beauty of a goal right in the top corner of Colin Doyle's goal for the first, and only, strike of the match.

Swindon, who had previously gone two league matches without a win prior to Saturday's meeting with Bradford, bossed the Bantams for large stages.

As early as the third minute the Robins were on the front foot when Darnell Furlong headed Johnny Goddard's corner just past the post.

Bradford could and should have had the lead five minutes later though when Marc McNulty was fed by ex-Swindon winger Mark Marshall but McNulty's shot was wayward and wide.

Goddard then had a shot blocked before Nathan Delfouneso's curled effort was brilliantly tipped past the post by Doyle before the quarter-of-an-hour mark.

Rodgers' free-kick broke the deadlock 20 minutes in and Town continued to dominate the first half with Michael Doughty and Jon Obika coming close but Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill was best denied.

The former Arsenal trainee overlapped well down the left-hand side and drilled a shot that was bound for the bottom corner but for a brilliant Doyle tip around the far post.

Visitors Bradford could only force half chances via Marshall, who shot over and Hanson who also could only find the Stratton Bank seating with his shots.

After the half-time break play slowed down with the closest Swindon chance being a super cross by Furlong just evading Delfouneso in the box - the tiniest bit of contact would have doubled the lead for Luke Williams and Tim Sherwood's side.

Josh Cullen warmed Lawrence Vigouroux's gloves with a first-time shot on the turn from the centre of the box, and Obika also tested Doyle with a low shot of his own.

Hanson had the closest chance of the second period however - but his header from a Filipe Morais cross just came off the base of the far post.

Haris Vuckic let fly from distance too though he would see his shot go harmlessly high and wide and Swindon held on for the three points.

Obika almost made it 2-0 with two minutes left and he would have done if his shot was more composed. Substitute Luke Norris initiallly had an effort blocked, the rebound came to Obika who fired over with Doyle charging at him.
