ON-THE-WHISTLE MATCH REPORT: Swindon Town 1-0 Millwall

Conor Thomas' 90th-minute goal won Swindon Town a dramatic three points against play-off chasing Millwall.

Neither team could create much at all going forward throughout as the pair of ex-Tottenham goalkeepers, Lawrence Vigouroux and Jordan Archer, had relatively easy days at the office but Thomas struck with almost the last kick of the game to win it for Swindon.

Nicky Ajose had a shot blocked and Thomas was there to slot the ball home into the bottom corner to get Town a vital three points as they fight against relegation.

The first half was a drab affair, with the biggest talking point of the opening 45 minutes being the fact that Ben Gladwin had to pull out of the matchday squad due to an injury he picked up in the pre-match warm-up.

Conor Thomas, who was originally on the bench, started in place of the QPR loanee while Lloyd Jones took his place on the bench.

Thomas, and every other man in red, struggled to fashion any clearcut chances in the first half as Swindon only managed to fashion two shots on goal.

Johnny Goddard brought a smart save out of Archer with a curled attempt from the edge of the box and Charlie Colkett also called Archer into action with a daisy-cutter from distance.

Millwall were not able to create any real opportunities of note either, but that can mainly be put down to some excellent defending by Dion Conroy.

The January signing from Chelsea repeatedly did some excellent cleaning up to prevent Steve Morison and Lee Gregory in particular from troubling Vigouroux in the Swindon goal.

Swindon did have a major penalty shout in the 38th minute though and could be considered aggrieved not have been given.

Jon Obika collected a pass from Goddard and flicked the ball over defender Jake Cooper, who hauled down the striker but referee Dean Whitestone did not think a foul had been committed.

The second half was not one to remember either, the goal aside, as, again, Vigouroux and Archer spent much of the play watching the 'action'.

Captain Nathan Thompson had a go with an ambitious half-volley from 25 yards that was straight at Archer and, sadly, that was about as good as it got.

Fankaty Dabo and his replacement James Brophy, as well as Goddard, all saw a number of crosses either go behind or headed away from danger, while Obika had a few shots blocked.
