How to Handle a Burst Pipe in your Home
When the weather turns from mild autumn days to the icier winter temperatures, checking for burst water pipes is second nature. However, not many are in the habit of checking them in the summer months, even though there has been an increase in burst water pipe claims during warm temperatures.
Whilst most associate burst water pipe problems with colder weather, since uninsulated pipes are prone to freezing causing the water to expand and burst the pipe, the same can easily happen when it all gets a bit too hot. When temperatures are high, the metal pipes expand until a burst occurs so it’s best to keep an eye on them whatever temperature extreme the weather causes.
Indoor flooding can cause extensive damage to any property and be very costly to put right. Checking pipes all year around is best practice, looking out for issues like rusty pipes, installation issues, and hard water.
