10 UK Fashion Trends

Are you looking for some fashion inspiration? Here we’ve got ten UK fashion trends you need to be aware of.

Fashion is constantly in flux, as it always has been, but with the new season right around the corner, it's worth checking to see what's currently in and how things might change over the coming months, especially with the weather set to change.

In this article, we'll be looking at 10 current fashion trends in the UK and telling you everything you need to know. Whether you buy Skechers shoes, Nike activewear, or LV accessories, we’ve got picks for every possible occasion.

1. Birkenstocks are big news

While they haven't always been the coolest, Birkenstocks are cool and are suddenly the height of fashion, and for good reason. Not only are they suddenly cool, but they're also comfy and really let your feet breathe. Birkenstocks can be versatile as well, being easy to pair with dresses, loose-fitting trousers, or shorts.

2. Everyone's wearing tennis necklaces

If you want to make a statement, going for a tennis necklace is one way to make sure that all eyes are on you. They're pretty simple, just a single row of diamonds (or other precious gems), but there's beauty in their simplicity, and you're bound to turn heads the moment you enter the room.

3. Less is more (sometimes)

As we've seen lately, people are making the shift towards more minimal outfits that are far more simple and elegant. Not only can these outfits look a lot classier, but they are also less physically imposing, which appears to be a trend that we've seen become more prevalent in the past few months. Sometimes less really can be more.

4. Conscious footwear is king

We've seen huge strides made in the footwear scene, with vegan shoes being very much in season at the moment, though the prices are still a little too high for many consumers to feel comfortable with. In addition, we've seen Adidas work with a couple of other brands to begin the development of leather made using mushroom derivatives.

5. Polka dot is back in season

If you head out into the city, you'll struggle to go long without seeing a woman wearing polka dot designs. While this trend did seem to disappear somewhat over the past few years, it's almost definitely having a resurgence, and while we're not sure as to the reasons, we're not going to complain because polka dot dresses are so cute!

6. Oversized shirts are here to stay

This trend has been around for a while and shows no sign of slowing down. Not only do they look great on their own, flowing with a pair of jeans or trousers, but they also look amazing when paired with a sleeveless sweater and accessorized with a cute handbag. It's a very city girl look, but is that a bad thing?

7. The white tee reigns supreme

A staple in almost every single wardrobe, the classic white tee is arguably the most versatile item on the market. Perfect for men or women, the white tee is versatile in both summer and winter outfits and can be layered up or down with ease. One thing you should try to do is ensure you don't skimp on quality.

8. Accessorize

Whether it's a simple pair of earrings to complement your necklace or a ring that'll catch the eye, accessories are a great way to elevate your entire outfit without having to spend a huge amount. You can easily spend a lot on these items, but you don't always need to, with many retailers having some great items for low prices.

9. Will you try a metallic skirt?

One item for the fainthearted, metallic skirts have been quite popular this past summer, and while we're not 100% sold on them, they're certainly a showstopper and something that you're unlikely to see somebody else wearing at your next event or function. If you go for one, make sure you don't overdo it.

10. Don't forget to grab a bag

Backpacks are very much in at the moment, and while that might be because many of us are still in our summer mindsets, they're certainly much more practical than handbags and bumbags, and they can look cute too. Don't go for anything too big, but make sure it can actually hold what you need it to.
