The baskets will be in full bloom until October, with over 3000 flowers. The colourful addition is part of a wider project from inSwindon BID to support Swindon Borough Council in its endeavours to improve ambience and vitality for a welcoming and friendly environment for the town centre's visitors, shoppers and workers.
The UK has experienced the sunniest May and driest April on record, and the coronavirus lockdown has prevented many people from enjoying the weather in the town centre while treating themselves to summer goods. Now, with light at the end of the tunnel, and more businesses planning to reopen in the coming weeks, the return of the popular hanging baskets is perfectly timed.
Mark Rogers, BID Manager for inSwindon BID commented on the return of the hanging baskets: “For the last couple of years, town centre visitors have complimented on the hanging baskets and they have become a long term investment for us. They help define our seasons and bring vibrancy and colour to the town for a warm summer feeling.
“With the town centre now reopen, we hope this simple touch helps welcome people back into the town.”
