The supermarket giant announced before the first lockdown in March that it would be opening up the old Homebase unit inside the Greenbridge retail park with a completion date originally set for spring next year, however, this has now been pushed back until summer 2021.
The work so far has seen the original Homebase entrance demolished with the inside of the unit being completely stripped and everything removed.
The store will be Lidl’s fourth new addition in Swindon after opening up its Orbital store at the start of the year. 30 new jobs are set to be created once the supermarket chain opens its doors.
Lidl will be the first supermarket chain to open in the popular Greenbridge retail park and will feature an in-house store bakery, baby changing facilities, parking, and a customer toilet.
