30 Years of Swindon Ice Hockey
20 Legends in the world of Ice Hockey will be coming back to Swindon in December to help celebrate 30 Years of the Swindon Wildcats.
Formed back in 1986 by current General Manager, Steve Nell. He commented "We cant quite believe that the Wildcats have made it 30 years! We are one of the longest running clubs in the UK and have seen some amazing players come and go over the years. That said, they have remained friends and many are coming back to help us celebrate."
The first part of the celebrations is an event being held on Friday 9th December at the Campanile Hotel in Swindon.
Fans of Ice Hockey will be given the chance to hear stories from some of their favourite players over the years and get the opportunity to ask them questions. Already confirmed for the evening are Brian Larkin, Daryl Lipsey, Gareth Endicott, Ian Richards, Richie Howe to name a few. Current Wildcats players will also be taking a seat at the event too. Steve said, "Tickets are limited to this adults-only event so we are urging fans to go to the Wildcats website and get them before they run out."
On Sunday 11th December more Legends from across the UK will be back on the ice to challenge the current Wildcats to the ultimate Ice Hockey game.
Shane Moore, Euan Forsyth, Steve Moria, Ryan Aldridge and Alan Armour are confirmed with Shane and Ryan taking to Social Media to send messages out to their opposite number. Shane is particularly looking forward to seeing his old team mate, Sam Bullas, as they will be playing on opposite teams.
Player Manager Aaron Nell is taking the game very seriously. "This is a grudge match that fans won’t want to miss. The last time the Legends played the current Wildcats team was back in 2011, it was a draw. Neither team wants a draw this time and it’s up to us, the current Wildcats team, to show the Legends – or old boys as we are calling them - in the changing room, that we will win!
"On a serious note though, we are all really looking forward to the match and really appreciate the Legends coming back to support our 30th year."
Face off is at 5.45pm at the Ice Rink and tickets for the 9th December and 11th December can be bought from www.swindonwildcats.com’
