Two meetings, two wins saw the Swindon Robins extend their hot streak to sixteen straight victories. And whilst delighted with the figures, Rossiter told of how he is trying to not pay attention to the record-breaking figures.
“ It’s sixteen wins overall now but I’m trying to not focus on that.” Began Rossiter.
“ I’m wanting to keep pushing to make the top spot secure and that is our goal.
“ If we win Thursday against Rye House then the spot is guaranteed and that’ll be the perfect start to the playoffs.” He said.
A first meeting 50 – 41 win over the Leicester Lions saw the Swindon Robins battle hard to get the first victory of the day. But even though it was tense at times, Rossiter insisted his side were always in control.
“ The first meeting was tense at times but we were always in control still.” Stated Rossiter.
“ The last couple of weeks have been really tense for the boys but they’ve performed great over the last few meetings.
“ Nothing is guaranteed even if we do finish top going into the playoffs.” He added.
“ I won the title with Coventry in 2010 and we were 26 points behind the top spot.
“ Once in the playoffs it’s a completely different ball game and the aim is to keep fighting for the top and finish strongly.” Said the team manager.
A surprise performance from the relatively unheard of Mitchell Davey guesting at reserve was another big bonus for the Swindon Robins.
And Rossiter told TotalSport its likely Davey will now feature for the Blunsdon club in the playoffs.
“ Mitchell Davey guested really well for us tonight.” Announced Rossiter.
“ It finally seems like I’ve found that reserve placement for the injured Zach.
“ The only problem we have now is that I can’t use him Thursday because rules don’t allow for the same guest to be used twice in a week.” He added.
“ But it looks like I’ve now got somebody for the playoffs.
“ When it comes to keeping the boys motivated, they keep themselves going more than anything else.”
“ They are all top professionals, know exactly what is going on and know what is expected of them.” Finished Rossiter.
