His deflected strike fell into the path of Doyle for the opener, and when the pair combined again, Anderson played a well-timed pass for Yates who restored Swindon's lead.
Anderson was aware that the team as a whole weren't at their best in the second half, but he was still happy that they managed to get the job done.
Speaking after the match, Anderson was honest in his appraisal.
"I think as a whole we all know we probably could've done a bit better in terms of moving the ball a bit quicker and probably in the second half we should've had more shots around their box,” said Anderson.
"We had a lot of possession. First-half I thought we done well, but again could've moved the ball a bit quicker to create more chances.
“But with it being 3-1 in the first-half, I think we did well to grind it out. It would've been nice to get a few more and put them to the sword, but it was a good result.
An awkward second-half saw Swindon struggle to extend their lead even further, as sloppy mistakes allowed Morecambe to push Town back. Something which Anderson explained was down to a bit of complacency amongst the STFC ranks.
"It's a natural instinct when you know you're cruising to be a little lacklustre and drop off a little bit. It's something that we want as a team to flush out,” he said.
"We want to go 75/80 minutes of grinding teams down, but it's hard when teams are obviously going to have 10/15 minutes where they're on top.
“But it's when these teams have that 10/15 minutes we need to make sure we stay on top, keep our shape and keep being disciplined,” he added.
Anderson started the game out on the left-hand side which means he has played as a striker, left midfielder and a number ten so far this season but the former Crystal Palace man insisted the constant change in positions doesn't disrupt him.
The 24-year-old stated: "I'm very comfortable playing on the left, right or even down the middle if we play with a 4-3-3 and I play in the middle as a ten. I have a good rotation with Isgrove for him to come inside and me to go outside."
He continued: "It's not really about having a fixed position because as a team, the way we play, we want people chopping and changing and getting into spaces and it helps me to get on the ball more."
Anderson has made a good start to the season but has had some rocky moments with manager Richie Wellens in the past, with the Town gaffer leaving Anderson in England for the pre-season trip to La Manga, as well as transfer listing him earlier in the window.
However, Anderson maintains that he has a good relationship with Wellens and that it's natural for players and a manager to not always agree.
"Things happen in football, everyone sometimes doesn't see eye to eye but me and the manager have a good relationship,” said Anderson.
“We speak every day, about football and anything. We have good banter and there's nothing I hold against him or likewise he holds against me.
"He does praise me and he does batter me a lot at the same time, but he's given me a role to push the boys and to perform as best as I can because he knows what I can be and what I can get to. I believe in that myself, it's just one of those things of putting my head down and making it happen,” Anderson added.
