Bellego wants another league title!

DAVID BELLEGO believes the Swindon Robins will once again challenge for the league title, as the Frenchman spoke with TotalSport Swindon’s Ryan Walker to discuss pre-season tactics and what to expect this upcoming season.

This time last year saw the Swindon Robins considered underdogs by many going into the 2017 Premiership, however just a year later and with a league title in hand, Swindon rider David Bellego admits the past year has been crazy.

“It’s amazing what a year’s difference can make!” Exclaimed Bellego.

“Last year we were the underdogs and didn’t have many people believing in us and yet we won the league.

“It’s great to have most of the same team back this season, we know what we can do and what we have to aim for.

“Last year was amazing but now we look to the future and not put too much pressure on ourselves.” He said.

The triumph of a title win also brings with it high expectations going into the new season, and although delighted to be the reigning champions, Bellego explains how the riders will need to put past glory behind them going into the new season.

“People expect a lot from you especially when you are the reigning champions.” Stated Bellego.

“We have some really good riders, and although it’s a shame to lose Jason [Doyle], we are all ready for the new season and wanting to challenge for the title once again.

An unfamiliar name when joining the club in 2017, Bellego has endured a meteoric rise to become a household name for the Swindon faithful, and the French ace told of his delight at once again being back at the Abbey Stadium.

“I definitely wanted to be back at Swindon this season and it was an easy decision once I got the phone call from the boss.” Said Bellego.

“I love the club, it’s amazing to be back, and I couldn’t see myself riding for any other club.

“Last year was a really good year for me personally and my riding really improved a lot.” He added.

“I’m really fit going into the new season and have been training a lot over the winter.

“I don’t put much too pressure on myself, I know what I can do and want to carry on rising through the ranks both with Swindon and my other European racing this year.” Added Bellego.
