0700 392 1235Since being drafted into Alun Rossiter’s mid-way through June after Tobiasz Musielak sustained heavy injuries whilst riding in Poland, Bellego has re-established himself as a dominant force in the Robins squad.
But as Musielak edges ever nearer towards a return to speedway, the choice must be made as to whether Rossiter is to bring back Swindon’s Polish ace or keep Bellego at the club.
Speaking to Total Sport Swindon, French racer Bellego made his intentions clear and insisted he doesn’t want to leave the club.
“It’s definitely somewhere I want to be racing full-time,” said Bellego.
“But it’s not my call really to say whether I will stay in the team or not.
“If I can stay then obviously I will want to stay at Swindon for sure,” he added.
A mixed 2019 season has seen Bellego endure some testing moments with his axe from Ipswich a hammer-blow in what looked to be a season of progression for the 26-year-old.
But following a successful weekend in the first round of the Speedway European Championships in Germany, Bellego explained how he has got a lot to look forward to for the remainder of the season.
“It’s going to be really tough [in the SEC] but if I qualify there then there is no reason why I shouldn’t be riding at that level,” said Bellego.
“I’ve got as good a chance as everyone else racing in the competition.
“Things are working really well abroad at the moment so I’m confident of doing well,” he added.
David Bellego returns to action with the Swindon Robins on Thursday evening as the Blunsdon outfit welcome Wolverhampton to the Abbey Stadium.
