'I am not here to kid anyone' - Bignot disappointed by Town's display at Eastleigh
Assistant Marcus Bignot gave an honest assessment of Swindon Town’s 1-0 pre-season defeat against Eastleigh, labelling the display as “disappointing”.
Fielding a strong side, Town were sunk by a Soloman Nwabuokei goal after just two minutes at Silverlake Stadium.
Speaking post-match, Bignot said: “On the performance, I was disappointed. It was a disappointing performance, for the players it has been a heavy week in terms of loading.
“It has been an unusual week as the last time we played was on the Friday against Southampton and then this game on the Sunday, where normally you would go from Saturday to Saturday.
“It has been an unusual week in how we have been preparing and they have had more training days, and I think that showed, they were very leggy in the first half.
“At half time, we spoke to them and helped them out tactically. There was an improvement in the second half in terms of territory and where we were playing, but in terms of our raw performance, I am not here to kid anyone, it was a disappointing performance and an equally disappointing result.”
Town continue their pre-season preparations with a pre-season game against Wycombe Wanderers, at the Nigel Eady County Ground on Saurday (3pm).
