Bignot's belief in creating 'winning mentality' as he looks for promotion at Swindon Town
New assistant head coach Marcus Bignot stressed the need for Swindon Town to create a “winning-mentality” after Mark Kennedy’s backroom staff was confirmed.
Bignot, who played for the likes of Queens Park Rangers, Kidderminster Harriers and Crewe Alexandra, joins the Robins after previously being the assistant at Shrewsbury Town.
Former interim head-coach Gavin Gunning is now in the first-team coaching setup full-time as first-team pathways coach, while Steve Mildenhall will remain as goalkeeping coach.
And Bignot, who also set his sights on promotion from League Two while at the County Ground, is excited to start his new role.
The 49-year-old told the club website: "I'm delighted to be here and I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead.
"There's a real opportunity here to be successful and what that looks like is we are pulling in the same direction then we will have success which we ultimately finish next season with promotion, which we're really excited about as a project.

"There are clubs at various levels who reach their ceiling, but I think many people in football will agree, that Swindon has been higher in the pyramids and is synonymous with competing in the higher divisions and we want to be part of the team that helps this club achieve that.
"I've been impressed with conversations I've shared with Mark Kennedy and also the chairman so far. We're looking forward to getting into pre-season.
"It's important that there is hard work, a real work ethic, and from a football staff perspective, we will look to create an environment where we can develop the players, not only as footballers but as people and also a winning mentality across the football club that finishes with success to the highest level possible."
