Bullas signs new deal with Swindon Wildcats

Swindon Wildcats have today announced a new deal for the all-action Sam Bullas, who will now be retained for the 2016-17 campaign.

The Nottingham-born player made 52 league appearances last season, scoring 5 goals and making 8 assists for 13 points in 52 games( take out second 52 games but).

'Bully' has racked up over 350 appearances during his seven season stay at the Link Centre, becoming a hugely popular figure both on and off the ice.

The powerhouse forward - who began his career with hometown club the Nottingham Panthers - now can't wait to pull on a Wildcats jersey again and has been impressed by player/coach Aaron Nell's summer recruitment drive.

"I'm very happy. I've been here a long time, it is going to be my eighth season, so it was a very quick talk between Aaron (Nell) and myself and we got it sorted quickly," Bullas said.

"They have brought back some very key guys and players who I get along with on and off the ice.

"People like Neil Liddiard, he's such a good guy and the type of person you need in your team, so Aaron is making the right steps and picking some good players.

"I'm excited to be a part of it."

Bullas is also the club's full-time Community Development Officer, a role he is savouring.

"It is going really well. We are in schools everyday doing assemblies, doing after school clubs and the kids also come to the ice rink where we can teach them how to skate," he continued.

"It is brilliant and it fits in with all my University qualifications, so when I got asked if I wanted to do the role, it was a very easy decision and we've had a good year."

Bullas becomes the seventh Brit to re-sign for the club in recent weeks and brings the roster up to nine confirmed players for the 2016-17 season.

Speaking about his latest capture, player-coach Aaron Nell told swindonwildcats.com:  " It was a very easy decision to bring Sam back for another year. He a massive part of our club on the ice, in the community programme and in the dressing room."

"Sam really cares about Swindon and wants nothing more then to be successful while playing for the club. I believe there's a lot more to come from Sam also it's my job now to put the right players around him to get the best out of him"
