Cooper leaves Swindon Town: How Twitter reacted
Following another defeat, Swindon Town Football Club confirmed late on Saturday evening that they had ‘parted company’ with manager Mark Cooper.
Earlier in the day the Robins had lost 2-0 away to Millwall, confirming the club’s worst start to a league campaign in ten years.
As the news broke Twitter was, predictably, awash with reaction. We took a look at some of your best responses…
Feel bad for Mark Cooper (not). This time last year, won the league v @bcfctweets but a year on, sitting 20th in the table. #hardluck

Thank you Mark Cooper. Did incredibly well in extraordinarily difficult circumstances and that'll never be forgotten ????

Gutted to hear Mark Cooper has parted company with #SwindonTown Not sure he was where the problems started! #STFC

Mark Cooper loses his job at Swindon through no fault of his own, lost 9/10's of his squad.

Thanks for the memories Mark Cooper. A good young manager in my opinion https://t.co/x5DcvEv4Bu #STFC

Shame to see Mark Cooper leave the club, we had a good season last year but things clearly aren't working this year #STFC

Hearing that Swindon have sacked Mark Cooper! Hopefully not a case of new manager syndrome next week
— Alex Smith (@alexsmithyccfc) October 17, 2015
Cheers Mark Cooper. I always felt you did well for us considering limitations. Good luck wherever you go next. Please not Steve Evans #stfc

To be fair mark cooper done bits for Swindon in past couple of years he didn't deserve all the hate he was getting!
— Prince (@PrincePilime) October 17, 2015
Thank you Mark Cooper. Lovely #football to watch last season, no chance this year with best talent all sold off & injuries #stfc #Swindon
— Harvey (@Ramsbury_Man) October 17, 2015
Sad to see mark cooper go but managers come and go I suppose..
— Jay (@STFCJAY) October 17, 2015
Mark Cooper done a good job at #stfc given his hands were tied but loose 3 or 4 key players you struggle. Bet he wishes he joined #swfc now
— Domenic Brunetti (@domthered) October 17, 2015
I'm going to miss Mark Cooper. Actually gutted.
— Benjamin Wills (@BenjaminWillsSJ) October 17, 2015
@TotalSportSwin something had to change! Understand the situation with injuries but the team looks devoid of passion and ideas!
— David Rhodes-Finney (@finney86) October 17, 2015
@TotalSportSwin no. Best we can get within the pay structure.
— Stuart Archer (@archeroo) October 17, 2015
Mark Cooper, a #swfc coach target last summer, sacked by Swindon Town tonight.
— Alan Biggs (@AlanBiggs1) October 17, 2015
Got a lot of time for Mark Cooper. Always thought he would do a right good job as gaffer at FGR. Wont be out of a job for long.
— Adam Coyle (@AdamLCoyle) October 17, 2015
Very sad to see Mark Cooper sacked tonight by @Official_STFC Mark's a good man, I've known from his days at Kettering

Wonder if this will bump the crowd up on Tuesday, to see power in the dug out?!! ??
— Lou Arnold (@louloustfc) October 17, 2015
I do love that The Power has put himself in charge though. Very interesting.
— Andy Warren (@AndyWarren_) October 17, 2015
You can rate Cooper without the hearsay. He did a good job under Power's philosophy. The third season proved too much. It happens. #STFC
— Rich Pullen (@Rich_Pullen) October 17, 2015
Feel for Cooper is position a hard sell; lowest budget in league virtually, injuries, new squad, inexperienced squad and low wage #stfc
— James Phipps (@JamesPhippsExc) October 17, 2015
Oh well at least we are making headline news on a Saturday night just love reading all the tweets of who we will get as next manager.
