The Sky Blues had been originally intending to announce two new signings in recent weeks, though negotiations had put this on the back burner.
Now, with the new campaign looming, Coventry will be taking on the Robins with the resources at their disposal.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph this week, boss Tony Mowbray explained time was against his side with regards bringing in new players in time to face Swindon.
"If we sign anybody in the next few days I think it's unlikely they'll play next weekend because we need to bed them down and get them playing the way we want them to," said Mowbray.
The Sky Blues will be without new loan acquisition Chris McCann, who has recently arrived from last season's title winners Wigan Athletic, as a result of a three match suspension hanging over from the 2015/16 season.
McCann, who got himself on the scoresheet at the County Ground last season while plying his trade for the Latics, will be available for Mowbray's side later in the month.
Swindon Town could be without influential captain Nathan Thompson for the season opener, after the skipper limped off in the recent pre-season friendly against Yeovil Town.
The club however are optimistic the number two will recover in time to feature against the Sky Blues.
