Swindon Town 'should have won the game' against 'clinical' Crawley
Swindon Town boss Mark Kennedy insisted he was still “really impressed” with his charges despite their dramatic exit from the Carabao Cup.
The Robins suffered a 4-2 defeat to League One Crawley Town at Broadfield Stadium, meaning they bowed out the competition in first round for the 10th year in a row.
Crawley looked to have the game wrapped up when Ade Adeyemo and Jack Roles put them well in the box seat, before Nnamdi Ofoborh (pictured) and Harry Smith struck within six minutes of each other to level the game at 2-2.
But with the tie in the balance in the latter stages, Crawley struck twice more through Roles and Rafiq Khaleel.
Assessing the contest, Kennedy said: "We leave with bitter disappointment that we haven't won the game that I thought we deserved to win but if we perform like that week in and week out then we can go far.
"Unfortunately, we lost and that is disappointing because we want to win every game, the scoreline really didn't reflect what happened but that is football.
"From a technical aspect I think Crawley were clinical when the chances came for them.
"I thought we were better in possession, created more chances, but Crawley were clinical and we should have won the game.
"I was really impressed with us, I thought it was a very good performance and sometimes results don't reflect performances.”
