Danny King reflects on Bee's demolition at the hands of Swindon Robins

A disastrous defeat for the Coventry Bees on Monday evening saw them lose for a third successive time this season against the Swindon Robins. Alun Rossiter's side exerted their dominance over the Midlands club with a massive 55-36 victory. Total Sport's Ryan Walker was in the pits to get the thoughts of Coventry’s Danny King.

After a tough loss to take for the Bees, with Swindon extending their climb to the top, King admitted his side just weren’t at the races on the night.

“Swindon is always a tough place to come to," began King.

“We probably made it look harder than it was really and we shouldn’t have been beaten by such a big score to be honest.

“We made a little comeback towards the end but it was just too little too late and you can’t have nights like that," he added.

Entering Monday’s meeting, the Bees found themselves in a rough patch after winning just one of their last three meetings. And King was honest in defeat stating that it’s been a season of up and downs for Coventry so far.

“It’s been one of those years where it’s almost one step forwards two steps back," he admitted.

“We’ve got riders in and out with injuries and what not so it’s not been easy.

“With the way our teams been built it’s hard to perform if all of us aren’t at the top of our game.

“In this side you can’t be carried by everyone else as a rider," King added.

Scoring 12 points on the night for the Bees, talismanic King enjoyed one of his best performances at the Abbey Stadium, and on a personal level admittedd he was glad with his own performance.

"I was certainly happy towards the end of the evening," explained King.

“I got trapped in heat fifteen so it wasn’t the race I wanted but apart from that I finished with two wins so it was good.

“I made a lot of bike changes this evening and was pleased that I got the points in the end," he added.
