Deadline Day: Kasim Deal To Swansea Unlikely, Say Reports

As deadline begins to pick up steam and the rumour mill begins to whir, speculation is rife as to whether Swindon Town midfielder Yaser Kasim will be departing the County Ground for pastures new.

The Iraq international has featured 23 times for the Robins this season, holding his usual berth in the centre of midfield alongside the likes of Drissa Traore and Anton Rodgers.

After seeing a move fall through during the summer transfer window, it is believed the 24-year-old is open to move on from the County Ground and test himself at a higher level.

Premier League strugglers Swansea City have been linked with the midfielder in recent weeks, after watching the number eight in considerable detail.

Club chairman Lee Power confirmed the Welsh side were one of two top flight clubs who had sent representatives down to SN1 to observe the player.

Latest deadline day reports however believe a deal between Swindon and the Swans for Kasim is unlikely.

Gareth Vincent, football reporter at the South Wales Evening Post has confirmed Swansea's interest in the player, but the deal looks unlikely at this late stage.
