Doyle's Reaction of Wins Against Both the Leicester Lions and Somerset Rebels

The Swindon Robins rode superbly to extend their winning streak in the eagerly anticipated double-header bank holiday clash. TotalSport Swindon’s Ryan Walker was in the pits to get exclusive reaction from Captain and Grand Prix Star, Jason Doyle.

A long days racing featuring a meeting against both the Leicester Lions and Somerset Rebels saw the Swindon side extend their winning run to 16 consecutive wins.

And whilst delighted with the victories, Jason Doyle was honest in his review of the double meeting plan.

“It’s the ideal situation for the robins, we are all riding really well at the moment.” Began Doyle.

“ It’s been a difficult long day and everyone is really tired but hopefully we never have to do a double header again.

“ We got the result we needed but it’s dangerous for the boys to do two meetings in a row.” He added.

After beating Leicester comfortably in the first meeting of the day, many were expecting a tense second match.

However a drop out of riders and an injury to Jake Allen, saw the Blunsdon outfit take on just four opposition riders. A situation that Doyle states should never of happened.

“ It wasn’t right that we had to race against only four of the Somerset boys.” Stated Doyle.

“ They wanted a strong meeting against us and we wanted a competitive meeting against them so we can show the fans some good racing.

“ I don’t think these double headers ever go smoothly with injuries and everything so I think they need to not let this situation happen again.” Said the Australian.

Two meetings in a row saw elements of fatigue creep into the Swindon riders racing as the evening went on, and when asked about this Captain Doyle was happy to explain the statistics behind his sides efforts.

“ Fatigue is a big factor when racing in one of these double header meetings.” Explained Doyle.

“ I had a heart rate monitor on tonight so to see how much energy we were using and I burned up 2.300 calories.

“ It was a lot of energy used and the heat contributed to that as well.” He added.

Maximum points taken on the night keeps the Swindon Robins top of the Premier League table. But with meetings still to come, current World Series leader Doyle insisted the battle wasn’t over yet.

“ It’s all tough and we need to now stay focused on securing the top spot in the League.” Insisted Doyle.

“ We’ve got into the playoffs and now we need to prove the point that we are a very good team after the season we’ve had.”

“I think it’s a massive deal to finish top of the League heading into the playoffs.”

“ The Swindon supporters want us to finish top and it’s important for us so that we get choice of opponents.” He said.

Away from team riding, Jason Doyle put in an outstanding performance at the Gorzow Grand Prix over the weekend to reclaim top spot at the top of the World Championships. Something he says was no easy effort.

“ It was great to have a strong grand prix at the weekend.” Exclaimed Doyle.

“ The problem is when people have negative things to say about it.

“ It’s GP racing, your up against fifteen of the best riders in the World so you can’t expect to go and win every race.

“ We finished off in a nice way with third on the podium and we will keep working hard.” He finished.
