El-Abd Eyes Swindon Stay

On loan defender Adam El Abd has reiterated his desire to remain in Wiltshire following an imperious performance against Rochdale on Saturday - a win which made in three in three for Ling's side.

The Bristol City man has earned much praise since his arrival in SN1, after a string of no-nonsense, solid defensive performances which have played their part in the revival the Robins are currently experiencing.

Since moving down the M4, the Egyptian has not looked back and has gone from strength to strength following his debut against Peterborough back in October, only a day after signing for the club.

Slotting seamlessly into the Robins' back four alongside captain Raphael Rossi-Branco, El-Abd wasted no time in filling in for the injured Liverpool youngster Jordan Williams.

The Egyptian's emergency loan deal is set to expire next month as the new year begins, but he has already stated his desire to instigate the conversation regarding the extension of his Swindon tenure.

Speaking to local media following the Rochdale win, Al-Ebd said: "“I am enjoying coming into training every day, I’m smiling, I’m enjoying working with the gaffer and Luke and Ross and I’m really enjoying working with the group.

“The boys are different class, there is a great spirit in there and they come in and they all love their football, which is what I love and I would like to stay," he added.

In what was a troubling period before the managerial shake-up, with a period of ten straight games without a win, the Swindon Town ship finally appears to be steadying.

"I feel we’re at the start of something here,” said El-Abd.

“We can always talk about what we do with the ball, but without the ball it is so important that when we press we press together, which is exactly what we did on Saturday and exactly what we did against Chesterfield and it is what is bringing us our success.

“You saw from the second goal. We had just scored and we went hunting for the ball as a pack together and it broke to Ben and he ended up scoring, rather fortuitously, but it was a good finish and it came from us pressing.

“That is something we have been working on and hopefully we can continue to do that," he added.
