Finucci Will Bounce Back, Says Nell

Swindon Wildcats' import Carlo Finucci was ejected from play during Saturday night's home clash against Telford Tigers, following a verbal altercation with an official.

Finucci's actions mean he will be unable to feature in Sunday's match, as the Wildcats make the long journey to Humberside to face Hull Pirates.

As it was announced during play thatt Finucci would recieve a two minute penalty plus match for the abusing of an official, the Canadian sent his hockey stick hurling across the ice in a physical act of frustration.

Wildcats had no option but to play out the remainder of the Telford tie without Finucci, yet managed to hold onto their lead and complete a successful come-back.

Head coach Aaron Nell offered insight on the incident following the full-time buzzer.

"I think Carlo was frustrated with a call - but Carlo is a big part of our team and he can't be doing that," said Nell.

"He's not going to play tomorrow, and that's tough for us, we need him on the ice as he's one of our better players and it's going to be harder without him in the line-up.

"It's disappointing but it happens, and he'll be raring to go next week. Hopefully we'll get a win for him at Hull but then it's on him to have a big weekend next week."

Nell added that the Canadian was already changed by the time the victorious Wildcats side returned to the locker room.

"He (Finucci) was very down, and was already showered and changed. He was frustrated and he knew he had let us down a bit, but it happens in hockey and things do get heated out there.

"But he's a guy who has really helped to boost our team in the last two months but he'll come back and he'll be fine," Nell added.

Finucci has been in a rich vein of form since arriving in Swindon, as a direct replacement for former Wildcats import Miroslav Zalesak.

The Canadian will be back on the ice next weekend, looking to make ammends as the Wildcats take on a set of back-to-back away fixtures, starting with Milton Keynes Lightning on Saturday, December 5.
