Francois Louw Comes to Royal Wootton Bassett Rugby Club

On Wednesday 17th February, Bath Rugby star Francois Louw will be in attendance at Royal Wootton Bassett Rugby Club for a special evening.

Rugby fans and fellow diners will have the opportunity to put their questions to one of the game's biggest stars. The Springbok icon will be talking everything Rugby, lifting the lid on the sport at the elite level.

Originally from Cape Town, Springbok Francois Louw joined Bath Rugby in 2011.  Highly regarded for his defensive skills, Louw is a strong presence in the back row who can not only create havoc at the breakdown, but is also skillful and quick in attack.

Total Sport caught up with event organiser Brian Hall, who could not wait for the highly anticipated evening when his fellow South African compatriot will take centre stage to speak candidly about the inner world of rugby union.

Brian said: "Francois is one of the most recognisable players in the world of rugby. He was one of the best players at the last World Cup, and is one of the most influential players for Bath Rugby.

"We're hoping it will be a really enjoyable and fun evening for all. Francois is an excellent speaker, both very eloquent and very knowledgeable about the game.

"Wootton Bassett is a great, traditional rugby club and a fantastic place to host the evening. With the Francois Louw event we've taken it away from hotels and those sort of venues, and instead we're bringing it to the rugby clubs."

Tickets for the event are available to purchase as a table of 10 - priced at £350, or alternatively for smaller parties single tickets are available at £35.

Diners will receive a welcome drink and a hog roast meal, before the question and answer session with Francois will begin.

There will also be a chairty auction to follow, including signed match shirts from England and Bath Rugby. Proceeds raised will go towards the J9 foundation - a charity lead by former South Africa rugby star Joost Van Der Westhuizen.

Van Der Westhuizen confirmed he had a form of Motor Neurone Disease in 2011, after originally noticing problems with his right arm back in 2008.

The chairty aims to educate the public and medical practitioners about Motor Neuron Disease and its devastating effects on both the patient and their families. To provide better emotional and physical care on initial diagnoses of a patient.

Total Sport are also running a competition for one lucky winner to claim a table of ten. Click the image below for more details:
