Garner praises 'fantastic talent' Louie Barry

BEN GARNER is refusing to be drawn into speculation about the future of the highly-rated Aston Villa academy player, Louie Barry, as speculation continues to build surrounding a potential loan move to Swindon Town for the remainder of the season. Total Sport Swindon’s Ryan Walker quizzed Garner on the possible signing earlier today.

After becoming the first English player to join Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy, Louie Barry could now be on his way to Swindon Town as Ben Garner looks to strengthen his side for the second half of the season.

Swindon have made just two outfield signings so far this month with Jake O’Brien joining from Crystal Palace, and Josh Davison signing until the end of the season from League One Charlton Athletic.

However, when questioned about a potential move for Barry, Garner preferred to remain tight-lipped about new signings arriving at the County Ground.

“I like Louie and know him historically from West Bromwich Albion. He is a fantastic talent who I’ve seen a lot of,” said Garner.

“He’s a player that is very very talented and we want to bring talented players to this football club and the right players.

“We will look to do that over the next 2 or 3 days,” he added.

"Any player coming to this football club, the first you will hear about it is when it is announced.

“That’s the case in every window with every single player and I don’t like commenting on players from other clubs likewise I don’t like other clubs commenting on our players.

“We’re going through the correct channels with every signing we make and we are doing everything right.

“I’m still really positive we can get the players in that we want and come the end of this window will be really positive moving forwards,” said Garner.

Garner additionally confirmed that any fans who may be hoping to see a new face through the doors at SN1 before Swindon’s trip to Colchester United will have to wait until Monday at the earliest.

“I don't think anyone will be in before Saturday. Josh Davison has come in this week and he has fitted in really well,” he said.

"I would like to think we will get at least two new players in on Monday.

“We want to be as strong as we can but we need more depth and have key targets that we are trying very hard to get those deals done,” stated Garner.
