Goal at Bristol Brought Back The Buzz For Stewart

Swindon Town’s Jordan Stewart has revealed his buzz for football has returned, which will be music to the ears of most Robins fans who believed the Northern Irishman was destined for the exit door.

Swindon Town’s Jordan Stewart has revealed his buzz for football has returned, which will be music to the ears of most Robins fans who believed the Northern Irishman was destined for the exit door.

After struggling with home sickness since arriving in SN1, the days looked numbered for the former Glentoran man.

Robins’ boss Mark Cooper admitted in recent weeks that Stewart may well had played his last game for the club, but a resurgent spell of form along with a recent goal in a development game against Bristol Rovers appears to have turned things around for the young forward.

Speaking to the club website, Stewart said: “I’ve definitely got that buzz back, I think I struggled for a while – probably for the last month but I’m back now and I’m more focused on my football and hopefully I’ll be able to push on.

“I’ve played it up in my head a bit – it’s probably worse in my head than it is in reality.

“Now that I’ve got my head around it, I’ll be completely fine. The first month a lot of people say is the hardest so now I’m probably over that, I’m back here and settled now and I can kick on.”

Now looking forward to concentrating on his football, Stewart admits he is appreciative of the help his team mates have offered him.

He told the club website: “All the boys are brilliant.

“They always have been. That was never the issue, it was just myself was the issue. Every one of the boys is fantastic, it’s just hard when you first move away from home. Hopefully I’m over that now though.”

Stewart scored the winning goal for Swindon during this week’s development game in Bristol, and now has his eyes trained on a first team berth.

“It’s always nice to score a goal even in a development game. I just need to get my match fitness up and push myself into the first team so as many development games as I can get will always help me. I enjoyed the game that was the main thing,” Stewart said in a club interview.

The Robins travel to Millwall this weekend with a vastly depleted squad. Injuries have blighted Mark Cooper’s plans of late, meaning young Stewart could well be within a first team call up.

Swindon Town face Millwall at The Den on Saturday, October 17 – kick off at 3.00pm.
