Gunning hails 'great business' done by Town to recruit Glatzel

Interim boss Gavin Gunning described as “great business” the addition of Paul Glatzel to Swindon Town in January, but admitted it would be “tough” to keep him.

The former Germany youth international arrived at the County Ground from Liverpool midway through the season.

He has now scored six times since making the move, including four in his past four League Two games.

Glatzel’s deal runs until the end of this season, with Swindon possessing an option to extend terms for another year.

Asked about the 23-year-old, Gunning said: “I think that (one-year option) will be taken, what do you reckon? I am not sure, but I think that it might be taken!

“I think it is going to be tough (to keep him). Thankfully, he didn’t score all of those goals when he had them cleared off the line or we would be talking about having no chance!

“It is great that we have got him and great business for the club, he is an asset, which we have a few of now and that is good.

“Where Paul has been, he has been an eight out of 10 constantly.”

Glatzel is likely to be involved when Town host AFC Wimbledon on Saturday (3pm).
