Harry Parsons joins Banbury United on loan
Swindon Town striker Harry Parsons has joined National League North Banbury United on loan until January. Total Sport's Joe Acklam reports the loan departure of the young forward.
The 19-year-old striker, who came through the ranks at the County Ground, made his debut in a 1-0 EFL Trophy loss against Bristol Rovers in 2019 and has gone on to make 17 appearances for the first team, but is yet to find the net.
Scott Lindsey has used the forward only once so far this season, where he started up front alongside Tomi Adeloye in Swindon's 2-0 League Cup first round exit against Walsall.
Parsons has experience of the sixth tier of English football, having spent two months on loan at Chippenham Town last season, where he impressed and notched five goals in seven appearances.
The youngster will be joining a Banbury side who have made a fast start to their National League North campaign, where they sit second and undefeated with three wins and a draw.
The Puritans are a side on the up, having won the Southern League Premier Division Central title last season to reach the sixth tier for the first time in their club’s history and are managed by former Oxford United full-back Andrew Whing.
Scott Lindsey said in yesterday’s press conference prior to the announcement, “We are having ongoing discussions with clubs about getting players more game time, we think three or four players would benefit from going out on loan.
“Players will always benefit from going out on loan, regardless of where they go and if they coach differently to how we coach.
“It is about getting kicked a little bit and playing men’s football is always a good experience for their future careers.”
