Harry Smith has Swindon Town loan ended and returns to parent club Millwall

Striker Harry Smith has had his season-long loan move at Swindon cut short and has returned to Millwall.

Swindon signed the forward from Championship club Millwall in mid-July and the 22-year-old scored three goals in all competitions for the Robins.

Part-way through the season, he went back home to Millwall for personal reasons and it looked like his loan had ended then, but he returned and was back in the first-team fold at the County Ground.

He had been suffering with an apparent ankle injury in recent weeks, but tweeted a photo of him watching Millwall a few hours before Swindon kicked off against Luton on Boxing Day.

Swindon lost 5-0 and after the final whistle, manager David Flitcroft confirmed Smith's time at Swindon had come to an end.

"Harry'll go back to Millwall, he's not been too pleased with the game time he's had or he's not had around this period.

"I wanted everybody on my page and looking forward to the second half of the season so Harry's gone back and we'll make that official."

Following confirmation of the news, Smith tweeted: "Appreciate every message good or bad. For sure I've had highs and lows but sometimes things don’t work out for whatever reason!

"As for the fans, you’ve been brilliant to me and I will 100% look back on my time here fondly! Good luck for the remainder of the campaign!"
