Holloway: They showed that desire and I don't think we did
Ian Holloway admitted his Swindon Town side’s performance was “awful” as they fell to a 3-2 home defeat against fellow strugglers Morecambe.
The Shrimps found themselves two goals ahead after just 14 minutes at the Nigel Eady County Ground, with strikes coming from Jamie Stott and Ben Tollitt.
Aaron Drinan, who was utilised early off the bench, pulled a goal back with a precise lob after 32 minutes for Holloway’s men.
Ryan Delaney then levelled up the contest before Morecambe landed the decisive blow 12 minutes from time.
Former Town man Hallam Hope ran on to a through ball and converted to give the away side all three points and leave manager Holloway to ponder a run of one point from three League Two games.
He said: "They showed that desire and I don't think we did.
"That is nothing like the boys, that is nothing like we normally look like, and nothing like we prepared.
"I felt that we needed a change of shape against them because of how poor we were, we didn't impose ourselves the way that I wanted us to.
"Well done to them but that was awful.
"We have got to sort these basics out, things like set plays when you have to go and win your header and get the distances right.
"We have got to go again and we made it twice as hard for ourselves, we were always in the battle.
"We are always going to be in that but we have got to show more fight than that.
"Then when we have got the ascendancy, when we actually scored and we had the wind advantage, I don't think we took it well enough."
Defeat left Town on 13 points from 17 league games played – only out of the bottom two on goal difference ahead of Carlisle and Morecambe.
