Holloway 'not downhearted' despite Swindon Town defeat
Boss Ian Holloway insisted he was “not downhearted” despite Swindon Town’s 2-0 defeat at Notts County.
Veteran frontman David McGoldrick netted twice in the opening half at Meadow Lane to seal the spoils, as Town’s four-game unbeaten run came to an end.
The result left Holloway’s side 22nd in League Two, four points above the relegation zone.
Speaking post-match, Holloway said: "I am not downhearted at all because I think that we competed very well and we still kept going but we looked drained at the end.
"We needed a goal and we didn't get one, so the longer it went on the harder it was to watch but we still kept going and that is encouraging."
He added: "David McGoldrick was completely outstanding, that was probably the best individual performance I have seen in some time at any level.
"It is disappointing for us but some of the things that I asked them to do we did really well but we did not capitalise on those moments.
"I am not disappointed with the performance because there was a lot in that performance but we just did not capitalise."
Swindon have now picked up 24 points from 25 games this season. Bottom sides Morecambe and Carlisle remain below them in the table.
Next up for Town is a home game against Crewe on Saturday (3pm).
