Holloway believes Swindon Town will 'fight for everything' after dramatic comeback win
Swindon Town manager Ian Holloway insisted his team would “fight for everything” after they pulled off an extraordinary 3-2 comeback win at home against Colchester United.
After Ollie Clarke’s opener for the hosts at the Nigel Eady County Ground, Town found themselves behind when Jack Payne netted twice from the penalty spot to put the U’s ahead.
But, after previously hitting the woodwork, Aaron Drinan slotted home from a tight angle eight minutes from time to draw Swindon level.
And Holloway’s men won it deep into stoppage time in dramatic fashion.
Shortly after Ellis Landolo was dismissed for the visitors following a second caution, Town were awarded a penalty when Tom Flanagan was judged to have handled in the penalty area.
Up stepped George Cox to coolly slot home from 12 yards and send the home fans wild.
Holloway said: "I was delighted with the performance overall and with everything that they (the players) did because it was all of them.
"That is the beautiful thing about it, it was all of them and we needed every sub that came on.”
Victory means Town are unbeaten in their past four League Two games and are now 19th in the table, four points clear of the relegation zone.
"Honestly, I couldn't have asked for anything more and that is what I want from this group,” said Holloway.
"They are looking like a team and they are looking like they are not going to wilt. They are keeping going, working hard, and still believing.
"I think that they are wearing the Swindon shirt like any supporter would be wearing the shirt. They will fight for everything and keep going and I love it."
Town make the trip to face Notts County on Saturday (12.30pm).
