Holloway says win over Fleetwood is 'one step towards where we want to go'
A hat-trick from Harry Smith hauled Swindon Town off the bottom of the Football League as they sealed a 3-1 victory at home against Fleetwood.
The former Sutton United frontman struck three times in 58 minutes as Ian Holloway’s side moved to 22nd in the division, two points clear of the relegation places.
Smith opened the scoring after just eight minutes, as he gathered a loose ball in the visitors’ box before slotting home.
He then headed in from a corner midway through the first half to put Town well in the ascendancy, before latching on to a pass from Jaxon Brown to smash in his third.
Paul Glatzel saw his penalty hit the crossbar before Fleetwood pulled a goal back through Matty Virtue-Thick but it was not to matter as Town recorded their third league victory pf the campaign.
Manager Holloway told BBC Radio Wiltshire: “They didn’t deal with our aerial threat today and how many times have I seen us not deal with their aerial threat? So I am really chuffed about that.
“But it is what it is, it’s one step towards where we want to go. We have got one hell of a hole to get ourselves out of, but we’ve got a long enough ladder to do it, like I said the other day.
“That looked like a team that I’d be putting my name on, whereas in certain minutes in certain games I’m going ‘Who are they? What on earth is this?’ where the nerves kick in.
“If the lads play like that, and keep working like that and keep fighting like that, I’m sure our fans will be loving every minute of it and putting the thumbs up to them.”
