Rising star Hunt leaves Swindon Town to join Boro

Talented defender Harley Hunt has left Swindon Town to join Championship outfit Middlesbrough.

The 16-year-old joins up with Boro having progressed through the Town academy.

He helped Swindon reach the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup last season.

He also featured for the first team in League Two, having made appearances against Walsall, Grimsby and Morecambe.

Swindon Town academy manager Alex Pike said: "Harley has shown huge development in his time with us, especially in the last season as a scholar and he moves on with the club's best wishes and genuine pride in the person he has become with us, and the player he has the potential to become in future if he continues to works hard to make himself better every day.

"Everyone at Swindon Town acdemy is proud of his growth and we wish him good luck with his next steps."

Boro were reported to have beaten Premier League clubs for the youngster’s signature.

It has also been reported the fee for Hunt could rise as high as £1.5million.
