Abbey Stadium, Lady Lane, Blunsdon, Swindon, Wiltshire,
0700 392 1235Currently sitting just outside the top eight in ninth position on thirty-five points, Doyle endured a difficult start to this year’s series. However after hitting a recent purple patch of form, the World Champion explains how he is starting to once again get back to his best.
“My form is starting to get better,” said Doyle.
“The start of the year was very difficult and part of that was not knowing how to be a World Champion.
“We took a step back, had a look at things, and I’ve started to enjoy my racing again,” he added.
“I’m a lot more relaxed and have been getting more bike time which is why my point scoring has improved.
“I feel very good,” he said.
With track preparations in order and a sell-out crowd expected, the Cardiff GP is still the biggest event on a racers calendar. And Doyle stated that he see’s the British event as a home Grand Prix for himself.
“Cardiff is my home Grand Prix this year with many supporters from both England and Australia expected to be there,” he said.
“It’s always nice to ride at Cardiff and it’s always a massive buzz for myself to be riding in front of so many fans creating so much noise.
“It’s one of the best stadiums in the World to ride a speedway bike,” he added.
Being the World number one always brings added pressure, and Doyle admitted that other riders would be more determined to beat him given the Australian’s status.
“There’s always going to be a target on my back when I’m World Champion,” said Doyle.
“It’s the same as last year when I was chasing the World title.
“I don’t mind having that tag though, I’ve taken a different approach to dealing with the pressure and I guess it’s working,” he added.
“It’s a good target to have but sometimes it can be a dangerous one as well,” said the number one.
“There are six more GP’s to go and World title number two is still the aim.
“I was in the same position a few year’s back and ended up leading the World standings going into the final event,” said Doyle.
