Jensen Targeting League Title Following Cup Victory

RASMUS JENSEN believes that yesterday’s Premiership Supporters Cup victory over the Belle Vue Aces was the perfect warmup for the playoffs as Swindon secured their first silverware of the season. Total Sport Swindon’s Ryan Walker spoke to the Danish racer in the aftermath of the action.

An entertaining second-leg saw the Swindon Robins swap and trade the lead with the Manchester Aces as both sets of riders produced a memorable night of speedway in front of a packed Abbey Stadium. Speaking after the meeting, Jensen admitted that Swindon was just too strong for the Aces.

“It was a tough meeting and Belle Vue pushed us hard,” said Jensen.

“At the end we were just too strong and pulled off four or five heat maximums on the bounce which is amazing for us.

“It had been a while since Belle Vue were here last so we weren’t taking anything for granted.

“They were actually leading after heat ten but we just managed to come good in the end and ran them over,” he added.

“I think the track got to what it normally was.

“There was too much material to start with and that probably caught us out a little bit.

“I struggled with bike problems all day. I shattered a back chain, cracked a diamond and ruined a seat bracket.

“But it was good we won in the end,” said Jensen.

Yesterday’s trophy triumph marked a moment in history for the Robins as the club won their first-ever top-flight cup tournament. Something that Danish racer Jensen was incredibly proud to be a part of.

“Yeh it’s nice to be part of history,” stated Jensen.

“I won the three leagues with Workington last year and if we can win both this year then I’ll have all five division titles in two years.

“The playoffs are going to be super tough and we will have to give everything,” he added.

“Obviously Wolves are going to be the tougher team in my opinion out of the four, but we ran them fairly close there.

“All the boys are dialled in better now but hopefully we can get to the final,” said Jensen.
